I personally don’t want to watch scary movies in cinemas because I don’t believe it is a prudent move to spend a couple hundreds of bucks just to scare myself. If it is a feel-good movie, then I have no problem with that. Now, on the other hand, if I am to be paid a handsome amount to watch a scary movie, I might do just that.

In India, there is this filmmaker, Ram Gopal Varma, who has just announced that he is willing to pay 500,000 rupees (or approximately USD10,850) to someone who can watch his movie alone from start to end. According to Varma, the chosen candidate “will be wired up to a heart monitoring machine as well as a camera that ensures they keep their eyes open during the whole movie.” The machine will display the readings outside the cinema for the spectators, and if the candidate succeeds, he or she will be paid the promised amount.

Phoonk 2

Phoonk 2 is about an evil spirit that traumatizes a family. The movie is a sequel to his 2008 creation of the same filmmaker which also had the same challenge to moviegoers. According to rumors, the contestant who accepted the challenge run out of the cinema after 30 minutes.

If Regal Films create an ultimatum Shake, Rattle, and Roll, and pose this gimik to moviegoers, do you think you are up to the challenge?
